→ New cafe: As predicted, World Traveler Coffee Roasters opened on Saturday.

For its first week at least, hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In another week or so, it will start staying open until 7 p.m.

Two of my Soroptimist friends went on opening day. In an email, Allison Woolley said, “We had great service (it didn’t feel like a first day), unique coffee drinks (I got the blueberry-vanilla latte), pretty pastries, and other food items.”

The cafe is at 2171 Cowell Blvd., Suite F, in South Davis’ Oakshade Town Center. The 1,809-square-foot site includes a cafe and patio. It fills the space last occupied by Common Grounds Coffee, which closed in August 2023 after more than 20 years.

→ It’s open! After two canceled grand openings, Eiar Studio opened on Friday. It’s at 117 D St.

Owner Diosa de Guzman said that until now, her business specialized in candles and perfumes, selling them in stores in San Jose and Oakland, and online. “In the Davis storefront, however, I wanted to include curated clothing as well as locally made jewelry. … I love to dress up, and I love classic, unique and timeless pieces that make a statement.”

Eiar Studio is open in downtown Davis.

But she also wanted to create a gathering space for events and private parties. “My partner and I are planning on doing events like paint-and-sip nights, shop-and-sip nights, candle-making classes, friendship bracelet nights, etc.,” she wrote in an email.

It’s a soft opening, as they work out some kinks and fill the space with more products, she said. “But we’re so thrilled to be part of such a wonderful community.”
