BAD Bakers is the latest addition coming to The Woodland Gateway shopping center.

The bakery, expected to open in May, will be the seventh store for the chain and sixth in the Sacramento area. It also has stores in Natomas, Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, Elk Grove and Santa Ana.

The store makes doughnuts and breads. There are cake and raised doughnuts, and Kronuts (doughnut-croissant hybrids), all with an assortment of fancy toppings. The breads are plain sweet dinner rolls or with savory fillings like hot dog, ham & cheese, jalapeño cream cheese and lumpia. Learn more on its website.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the 1,140-square-foot store is the first that’s employee-owned. Woodland native Marcus Li is the owner.

The Woodland store will be at 2021 Bronze Star Drive, Suite 400. It replaced a Subway, which closed. It will share a strip of the mall occupied by Starbucks, Sports Clips and Jimboy’s Tacos. Hours at the other stores are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. holidays.
