A Placer County liquor retailer is expanding to Davis in early 2025. Bourbons & More will fill the space at 2880 Fifth St., Suite 100 last occupied by True Focus Sports Academy. As I reported last week, The fencing gym recently moved to Olive Drive.

Bourbons & More sells bourbon, rye and Irish whiskey, as well as Scotch, Canadian and Japanese whisky (yep, different spelling). It also has high-end cognac, rum, tequila, vodka, liqueur, wine, beer and cigars. The 3,000-square-foot Davis store is about the same size as the ones in Rocklin and Roseville.

Owner Sam Badwal said they’re shooting for a Jan. 1 opening date for Davis. After that, a fourth store is in the works for Citrus Heights.

Annually since 2020, the bottle shop has been recognized by The Roseville Press Tribune as best liquor store in Roseville and Granite Bay. It’s also been featured in a Fox 40 TV segment called Bourbon Talk.

“We have all the big bourbons you cannot get in this region,” Badwal said. “We travel far and wide, all over the United States, and make good relationships with the distilleries.”

He said they help customers find premium products. “We concentrate on trying to get customers what they cannot find in the big liquor stores or Costco. We have a better selection than any of these stores.”

It offers everything in the liquor and cigar industry, including premium beers and specialty wines. There’s a beer cave for craft brews. It will have a few snacks and sodas but at least 80 percent of the store will be liquor products.

The Davis location has a license to sell alcohol for off-premise consumption. Next, it’s applying for an instructional tasting license, which allows tasting events.

Badwal said companies compete to offer free tastings of their products. The store also has a rotation of “store picks” of exclusive products that patrons can sample if a certified server is present.
