The new restaurant Edgewater Coastal Bar & Grill recently began its soft opening. It’s at Velocity Island Park in Woodland, but this isn’t theme park fare.

I wrote about the restaurant late last year. Once it got all its approvals, the owners decided to wait until spring to open it. Meanwhile, it’s been hosting private events.

Chef Luke Morrissey, who previously worked at Swabbie’s on the River in Sacramento, calls the menu “California cuisine with a modern flair.” Featured items include a tomahawk steak, a raw bar with tuna salad and oysters, pork chops, sea bass, lobster and pasta. Lunch food will still be beach-friendly but dinner is nicer, like Crawdad’s on the River in Sacramento, owner Scott Hartman said.
