PetSmart sets opening date for Davis
Plus, I’ve got updates from a bunch of local stores and restaurants on their way this summer and fall
→ Almost ready: The pet-supply chain PetSmart plans to open its Davis location on Saturday, July 19. The 17,500-square-foot store faces Anderson Road, on the east end of The Davis Collection. That’s the center replacing University Mall. The public relations contact said she will have more details in coming weeks.
→ Going & coming: The L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Woodland is closing on Saturday. Friday is the last day that gift cards and gift certificates will be accepted. The restaurant is at 353 W. Main St., Suite E in Woodland.
“We want to thank you, our Woodland ’ohana, for your loyalty and support over the years,” it said in a social media post. “It’s been an honor to serve you! We hope you’ll continue enjoying your island favorites at L&L Hawaiian’s … Davis and Sacramento locations.”
The Davis location is coming to The Davis Collection, along the courtyard between J.Crew Factory and Norstrom Rack.
Josie Akana, vice president of franchising for L&L, said they are targeting a late October opening in Davis. “We are, of course, hoping it would be earlier but we shall see.”
→ Say cheese: The grilled-cheese-turned-burger-joint The Melt is among the tenants coming to The Davis Collection. It plans a soft opening in mid-August and a grand opening likely in mid-September, in a 3,000-square-foot space across from J.Crew Factory.
