Here’s a quick column to share the news about a local restaurant opening.
Mom’s Dumpling opened late last week in Davis Commons. It fills the former Halal Guys spot at 500 First St., Suite 7 in downtown Davis.
Steamed dumpling dishes feature cuttlefish; shrimp; mackerel; black pepper beef; zucchini, egg and shrimp; and pork, cheese and corn. Fried, round soup dumplings on the menu include pork and Shengjian Mantou. Other pan-fried ones are beef and triple delight.
But its menu has more than dumplings. Other specials include pork ribs and pork trotters (pigs’ feet), boiled chicken, fried chicken wings, beef hot pot, hot and sour soup, spring rolls, potato shreds, cold mixed wood-ear mushrooms, spicy cucumber salad and mixed vegetables.
The restaurant appears to be catering to international students with its motto, “Feeling homesick? Have some dumplings.”
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, to start. Enjoy!
