Maya’s opens, yogurt flows, mall grows

There’s breaking news, so I’m posting my column early.
→ Hola, Maya: The soft opening began Wednesday for Maya’s Authentic Mexican Food. The restaurant fills the former El Toro Bravo space at 237 D St. in downtown Davis.
Owner Daisy Maya offers authentic Mexican food with family recipes from Guanajuato, Mexico. Her father, Miguel Maya, owns a restaurant in Sacramento and a taco truck in West Sacramento.
I stopped by Wednesday during its soft opening. Daisy said the eatery’s tacos are customer favorites, like the birria tacos, which come with consommé broth for dipping. She also suggested the fish tacos and crispy tacos.
Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
