Last week I had an update on Village Bakery, which may open later this month in its new location. It’s moving from its longtime and tiny space at 814 Second St. to the former Uncle Vito’s Slice of NY space at 524 Second St.

That prompted some outcry from readers, who were upset that the owner painted over the Uncle Vito’s mural on the business’ E Street side, which depicted New York scenes.

Signage is starting to go up for Village Bakery, which could open later this month in the former Uncle Vito’s Slice of NY space. (Comings & Goings photo)

Owner Aziz Fattahi said he knew he’d get some complaints. He assured community members that he was working with John Natsoulas of Natsoulas Gallery to come up with a mural that represents Village Bakery and Davis.

Fattahi lost his lease for his current bakery space. One of the property owners plans to open a similar business there.
