The former Cindy’s restaurant building in South Davis is no more. Crews demolished the building this month to make way for a Chipotle.

This won’t be the same kind of Chipotle that you see in downtown Davis. The Mexican-restaurant chain’s new “Chipotlane” eateries include a drive-up window for mobile orders. The concept reportedly reduces the wait time and lines compared to a traditional drive-thru.

Cindy’s, which served as a morning American diner and evening Thai restaurant, closed in October 2022. The address is 4823 Chiles Road.

The new building will be 2,334 square feet, and will incorporate an ag-themed outside mural, installed in coordination with the city. No news on a projected opening date.

→ Cute, not cuddly: Thanks to several eagle-eyed readers who pointed out my misspelling of cuttlefish in my last post. The Mom’s Dumpling dish has been corrected online.
