The Dollar Tree store in East Davis is closing. Employees said the official date is Dec. 7 but by the look of the shelves, it’ll likely be sooner.

The store is at 1800 E. Eighth St. Davis has a second Dollar Tree, at 1260 Lake Blvd., that doesn’t appear to be affected. The company merged with Family Dollar and has been converting most Family Dollar stores to Dollar Tree, as it did with the West Davis store.

Rumor is that the neighboring Grocery Outlet may expand into the space but I have not confirmed that.
