→ Paris Banh Mi Cafe & Bakery is the newest tenant announcement for The Davis Collection, the center replacing University Mall. It’s on Russell Boulevard, between Sycamore Lane and Anderson Road in Davis.

It will fill a 2,000-square-foot space (Suite 104), along the courtyard that leads to the anchor restaurant, Calicraft Brewing Co.

Paris Banh Mi specializes in banh mi sandwiches: authentic French baguettes filled with Vietnamese ingredients. The company is a franchised chain. Davis will be the third location in California. The others are in Elk Grove and Clovis.

Its menu features sandwiches on baguettes, croissants or burger buns, filled with a choice of dried shredded chicken, grilled pork, pork sausage, ham, bologna, pâté, seitan (vegetarian), mayonnaise, jalapeños, cucumber, pickled daikon, carrot and cilantro. There’s a large selection of desserts like cake slices, cheesecake and pastries, and many drink choices like boba teas, matcha, iced coffee and slushes. Visit its website for more.

According to Brixmor, the developer and leasing company, just three spaces remain unclaimed at the center: the 4,500-square-foot Suite 111, next to J.Crew Factory; the 1,600 -square-foot Suite 110, along the courtyard next to L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, and Suite 120, a 1,470-square-foot space closest to Russell Boulevard and next to Laser Away. To see the layout, go to this page Brixmor website and click on the site plan tab.

Nordstrom Rack opened on May 22. Most of the other stores will come this summer and fall. Retail stores not yet mentioned include PetSmart and Ulta Beauty.

Besides Calicraft Brewing Co., restaurants, largest to smallest, include Urban Plates, The Melt, Mendocino Farms, Good Friends Hawaiian Poke, 88 Bao Bao, Shah’s Halal Food, The Old Tea House, Fluffy Fluffy desserts, Cold Stone Creamery and L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.

→ A favor: Many of you who signed up for annual subscriptions when I launched my Substack in May 2024 are starting to get notices about automatic renewals. Yes, they are automatic.

Please do not dispute the charge. Although I hope you won’t cancel, it’s easy to do through Substack, or by emailing me, for a refund. Disputes should be reserved for fraudulent charges. I am charged $15 every time this happens, no matter the outcome. Six people have done this in the last year, and half of those were for $5 charges. Maybe they didn’t want to hurt my feelings, but I see their names and email addresses either way.

Also, watch for emails saying, “Your payment for Comings & Goings was unsuccessful.” That’s typically an expired card. If you’re seeing a paywall and you’ve paid for a subscription, this could be the culprit. Always, if you have any trouble, send me an email. Thanks so much for your support!
