A Fluffy return
Beloved doughnut shop plans open house on Saturday; Also, news on Seasons, G Street zoning, Local Kitchens, Konditorei, Big Lots, Smart Axe, Acorn Veterinary Clinic, and a few images as I travel
Fluffy Donuts plans an open house on Saturday, with a grand opening on Sept. 21. The Davis favorite has been closed since August 2023, shortly before University Mall was torn down for reconstruction of what will become The Davis Collection.
Its new address is 1260 Lake Blvd., Suite 110, in West Davis’ Westlake Plaza. The final inspection was delayed until Tuesday, so Saturday’s event is an open house. The official grand opening is Sept. 21. Once fully open, hours will be 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.
Owner Sak Sopheak contacted me earlier this week, offering me a tour of the space. Since I’m in Split, Croatia, I had to settle on a remote update and photos. Have a maple bar for me.
→ Seasons update: After 15 years, Seasons Kitchen & Bar will serve its last meal tonight. The 3,300-square foot restaurant at 102 F St. is available for lease. Meanwhile, it will be used for private events.
Hilton Garden Inn General Manager Cosmin Nicula told the Sacramento Business Journal that the hotel plans “to introduce a new in-house dining experience for its guests that will operate out of a dining space in its lobby.”
The original version of my last column misstated the ownership of the building that houses Akasha Yoga. It is not the same as Seasons.
→ Zoning on the agenda: The Davis Planning Commission will host a public hearing on zoning amendments related to outdoor dining downtown. This is prompted by the G Street improvements. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 in Community Chambers, 23 Russell Blvd. The agenda and further information will be posted here.
→ Working remotely: As I mentioned, I’m in Split, Croatia, halfway through our three-week trip visiting Croatia, Slovenia and Munich. Below are some of my photos and a short video.
