Almost exactly a year after 3rd & U Cafe closed, it reopened Thursday under new ownership.

Ali Moghaddam, who owns Ali Baba across the street, took over the lease. Although the menu will be similar and the name remains, the food and service will follow Ali Baba standards, he said. For example, the burgers will be charbroiled instead of fried.

The menu includes nine burgers, salads, sandwiches, Buffalo chicken wings, fries, chips and guacamole, and a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich.

The cafe was known for its beer and wine deals, and prices will be low, with Modelo and Blue Moon sold for $3.99 each and other brands for $6.75. Wine starts at $7 a glass or $30 a bottle.

The business at 223 Third St. was closed by the previous owners on Nov. 15, 2024, citing family health concerns. New hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily.
